Me in a nutshell: Married, thirty-something, Orthodox Christian, San Diegan, preschool teacher who has lost more than 70 pounds since December 1, 2008! But there is so much more to me.
I was born and raised in a suburb of San Diego. I grew up dancing, playing the piano, riding my bike, and roller skating EVERYWHERE!
Somewhere in my college years, I decided it was easier to be LAZY and do minimal activity.
Somewhere in my adult years, I decided that it was enough! That was a few days before December 1, 2008 when I had an annual doctor’s appointment where I knew I was going to be weighed. It was then that I decided to change my life.
I knew the scale would NOT give me a pretty number; I knew I would be ashamed of that number. I also knew that I was the only one to make that number change. I weighed 320 at that appointment!
That’s an insane number for a person who used to be so active, healthy, and loved the adventure of life.
The first step was to change my eating habits. I dropped the daily cokes, I began cooking things from scratch, and I cut as much processed foods out of my life as possible.
Oh, I still have the occasional trip through the drive through, but very minimally and not the double burger, bacon, cheese, heart attack waiting to happen kind of thing.
I now cook bread from scratch (not much store-bought), bake my own chips, make my own refried beans, and make as much from scratch as possible. I’m even known to make my own yogurt and am delving into making pasta, tortillas, and even a simple cheese as well.
I have lost more than 70 pounds so far and still have about 80 more to go!
Now that I am eating healthier, I have more energy and actually get antsy sitting around doing nothing.
So, who are you in a nutshell?
